Core Objectives

The Motives of Institution

NDF’s guiding beacon of inspiration stems from the belief that the pinnacle of good governance can only be realized through the development of democratic institutions, procedures, and values. Democracy is an evolutionary process in itself, and the real benefits of true democracy cannot be measured through a single election and cannot be evaluated based on its success or failure in any particular country. NDF plays a pivotal role in fostering a strong bond between indigenous democratic movements for the people of Pakistan — a bond based on the commitment to the right of the people to freely determine their own destiny.

Our Objectives

The primary objective of NDF is centered on playing the role of a bipartisan, vibrant and independent organization for the greater good – empowerment of democracy. Whether it is electoral reforms at legislative, management, and administrative level; nation-building; training and capacity-building campaigns of voters and nominees; awareness campaigns regarding the importance and power of vote; NDF will educate the masses so they can exercise their right to vote for their choice of candidate.

Our dedicated objectives are to;

  • Promote and implement the concept of open, resilient, and democratic societies.
  • Bolster support for democracy, human rights and governance: We will continue to invest in democracy, human rights and governance initiatives, and capacity-building as a strategic priority.
  • Strengthen civil society: We will devote our efforts to empower civil society, and push back expanding restraints on freedom of association and assembly.
  • Capture and communicate lessons learned: We will increase our capacity to monitor and evaluate our work and share the knowledge earned from lessons learned.
  • Foster the infrastructure of democracy, the system of a free press, unions, political parties, and universities. We will empower people to choose their own way, develop their own culture, and reconcile their own differences through peaceful means.
  • Maintain long-term meaningful relationships with political parties, civil society organizations and political activists.

As a mission driven organization, we differ from many development actors by;

  • Promoting meaningful participation of all citizens in the political systems including women, youth and other traditionally marginalized groups.
  • Harnessing the comparative advantages of media and technology to promote citizen understanding and engagement for transparent and political competition.
  • Supporting meaningful transition processes that establish positive precedents for effective democratic governance.
  • Promoting the integrity of elections as the only sustainable vehicle for governance.
  • Facilitating the ability of elected political officials to fulfil their responsibilities towards citizens and the country by applying better-governance practices.
  • Promoting a competitive and representative multi-party political system.
  • Ensuring the application of impartial legal frameworks and compliance by political leaders.
  • Bridging the gap and maintaining close coordination between government and citizens making it a responsive, transparent, and effective institution.
